Bitcoin’s early years
When Bitcoin entered the market in 2009, it was a worthless cryptocurrency in comparison to USD. No one could imagine that this virtual currency, which many people thought was used illegally, could become a part of our lives in the coming years. In 2010, Bitcoin, which was $0.06 on average, finished the year at 0.26 level. Announcing the footsteps of the rise in 2011, Bitcoin closed this year with an average of $6.05. Bitcoin, which went up to $35, was starting to attract attention. Bitcoin, which more stagnant in 2012 compared to last year, exhibited a more mature momentum along with its vicious rises. Increasing its annual average to $8.46, Bitcoin showed that it got used to double-digit values with the level of $15.43 on the last day of 2012.
In 2013, Bitcoin was starting to gain real value. Bitcoin, closing 2012 at $15, rose to an average of $189. Reaching a value of $1,181 as the highest level of 2013, Bitcoin managed to attract the attention of many investors and institutions. It experienced a great rise in December 2013 and closed 2013 at $731.
Although Bitcoin could not continue its rise in 2014, it strengthened its level by raising its annual average to $526. Bitcoin fell to $300 at the end of the year, thus users started to reevaluate its value.
Bitcoin, experiencing a decline in 2015, fell to an annual average of $272. Bitcoin entered an upward trend by rising above the $400 level in the later months.
The great rise towards the end of the 2010s
Bitcoin experienced a steady rise every month in 2016. Bitcoin, closing the year with an average of $567, was at $950 at the end of the year, giving signals for a record price.
In 2017, which is defined as the spring of Bitcoin, it increased its annual average to exactly $4000 and attracted a worldwide attention. It was considered as a milestone for Bitcoin, when it broke the record with the level of $19,450 on December 17, 2017. Many BTC investors stepped into wealth with this rise.
Bitcoin experienced a gradual decline in 2018 after a record high. Bitcoin completed the end of the year at the level of $3,500. Although it caused doubts about itself, it remained on a more mature line throughout 2019. Bitcoin started with a great upward trend in 2020 and set a successful ground for 2021, the record year. It managed to rise above $60,000.
