UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Aid Fund, has created a cryptocurrency fund to receive donations through Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). This fund, created by UNICEF, will enable cryptocurrency donations to be used for children in all parts of the world. In addition to these developments, UNICEF has announced that it will continue to support open source technologies for children worldwide through funding.

The first donation came from Ethereum

UNICEF said on Wednesday that this was the first step for a United Nations agency, and said the Crypto Monetary Fund will receive grants from the crypto as well as aid from the cryptocurrency. Underlining that the first donation to the fund was made by the Ethereum Foundation, UNICEF officials added that this was the first of many donations.

Ethereum Foundation executive Aya Miyaguchi said in a press statement on the subject:

”This is a new and exciting initiative for UNICEF. If digital economies and currencies have the potential to change the lives of future generations, it may be important to explore the opportunities they offer. ”

Aya Miyaguchi said in a press release that she and UNICEF will make sure that the cryptocurrency fund is used to improve the basic needs, rights and resources of many people.
